Bundled with most launch‑era Wii systems, the Stand Plate is a flat, disc‑shaped piece of silver‑coloured plastic that attaches to the underside of the Wii Console Stand via two prongs that slot and click into place. Its purpose is purely mechanical, to widen the stand’s footprint so the upright Wii is less likely to tip over, especially when placed on smooth surfaces. It contains no electronics and doesn’t affect performance, but it was part of Nintendo’s recommended setup for vertical orientation.

When Nintendo first unveiled its codenamed “Revolution,” the world was promised movement — a rupture in the still air of gaming’s status quo.
