A launch‑title rhythm game that builds on the series’ dance‑along formula with GamePad‑exclusive features like Puppet Master mode, expanded fitness options, and customisable routines.
Description
Just Dance 4 on the Wii U was released as part of the console’s launch line‑up, marking the series’ debut on Nintendo’s then‑new hardware. Developed by multiple Ubisoft studios, including Ubisoft Paris, Milan, Bucharest, Pune, and Reflections, it continued the franchise’s formula of choreographed routines set to popular music, with players scored on how accurately they mimicked the on‑screen dancers. The Wii U version retained the core gameplay of its Wii, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 counterparts but introduced exclusive features that took advantage of the GamePad’s second screen and touch controls.
One of the most notable additions was the “Puppet Master” mode, in which a player using the GamePad could alter dance routines in real time, change visuals, and select moves from across the series to create custom mash‑ups. The GamePad could also display lyrics, allow song selection mid‑game, and even be used for drawing during play. Beyond these enhancements, Just Dance 4 expanded the “Just Sweat” fitness mode, added a Battle Mode for competitive team play, and introduced Dance Quests—specific challenges tied to each song that rewarded players with in‑game currency. The presentation was updated with more detailed backgrounds and realistically styled costumes for the dancers, while maintaining the bright, accessible aesthetic that defined the series
