Conversion Cable
An 8 pin – 9 pin cable to connect original Mega Drive/Genesis output to the 32X Video Link Cable.
Description
The Conversion Cable was required with the Video Link Cable (P/N: 600-6411) on original Mega Drive/Genesis models when connecting a 32X unit. The 32X operates by a pass-through of the Mega Drive’s AV output looped back into the 32X. For original Mega Drive units, these used the older and larger DIN connectors. As such this short cable adapted it to the newer, denser connector, which in turn could be used by the regular link cable.
There were a number of aftermarket options that improved on this cable. Straight 8 pin – 9 pin patch cables removed the need for two cables. The original stock Mega Drive/Genesis output only supported mono audio, however also had a stereo phone jack on the front of the console. Alternate cables fed stereo audio into the 32X from this phone jack.
