Description
Virtua Racing Deluxe is an enhanced port of the original ground breaking 3D arcade racing game. The 32X version features improved graphics, smoother frame rates, and additional content. This version is expanded with five tracks and three car types, offering more variety than earlier versions while retaining the arcade-style gameplay and polygonal 3D visuals that defined the original.
Out of all the home releases, this is by far the best. The Mega Drive version with its custom DSP chipset really pushed the console’s limit but resulted in a highly compromised experience. On the hand, a Saturn version was released a year after this game. This added substantially more content to the game but development was contracted and the basic feeling i.e. the physics and vehicle handling was completely wrong. Thankfully today there was a Nintendo Switch exclusive remake of the original arcade version with a very polished experience. Highly recommended although the lack of a physical release is unfortunate.
This 32X release in Australia was delayed with the 32X console to early 1995 after just missing the Christmas 1994 period.
