Keyboard
Official Sega Dreamcast Keyboard with EU/PAL style packaging but US layout, as appropriate for the Australian market.
Description
The official Sega Dreamcast Keyboard (model HKT‑7620), a full‑size typing peripheral for Sega’s final console, to support its push into online gaming and web browsing. The one sold in Australia was the US/ANSI layout as is commonplace there, it matched the North American version rather than the ISO or JIS variants, sold in other markets.
Styled in the Dreamcast’s off‑white and grey colour scheme, it featured a standard PC‑style key arrangement and connected directly to the console’s controller port. While usable in the Dreamcast web browser, it was most valuable in compatible titles like Phantasy Star Online and Typing of the Dead, where fast, comfortable text input was essential. Designed solely for the Dreamcast, it reflected Sega’s vision of the system as more than just a games machine and its forward looking design for connected entertainment.
