Road Avenger
ロードブラスターFXRoad Avenger for the Mega CD (Road Blaster in Japan) is a port of the 1980s Laserdisc game. It is a full-motion video (FMV) driving game that combines high-speed car chases with interactive movie-style gameplay. Players take on the role of a vigilante seeking revenge for his wife’s murder, steering through explosive action sequences by responding to on-screen prompts. Although technologically limited in framerate, color bit-depth, and video compression, the game remained engrossing. Featuring hand-drawn anime-style animation by Toei Animation and a high-energy soundtrack, Road Avenger is a standout example of early FMV gaming, praised for its over-the-top presentation and cinematic flair despite its limited interactivity. In Australia this title was frequently bundled with the Mega CD console.
