Controller (USB)

コントローラー(USB)

A replica gamepad designed to accompany the miniature PlayStation Classic console, retaining the original form while adapting a USB connection for modern hardware.

Description

PlayStation Classic Controller reproduces the look and feel of the original PlayStation controller released in the mid‑1990s, with the same button layout, digital directional pad, and twin shoulder buttons. It omits analogue sticks, reflecting the early design before the Dual Analog and DualShock revisions. The controller connects via USB rather than the proprietary PlayStation port, making it compatible with the PlayStation Classic micro‑console and with other devices that accept standard USB input.

Functionally it operates as a straightforward digital controller, with no vibration or analogue input. It was bundled with the PlayStation Classic console in pairs. The design is closely related to the original PlayStation controller and is often compared with later DualShock models to highlight the absence of analogue sticks and rumble.

At release the controller was noted for its faithful reproduction of the original shape and feel, though some reviewers criticised the lack of analogue support given the broader history of PlayStation hardware. However, of all the problems of the PlayStation Classic package, the controller was the least of them. A nostalgic companion to the PlayStation Classic, simple and functional, preserving the earliest PlayStation design in a modern format.
