デモンエクスマキナAn original mecha action game built around customisation and high‑speed combat in a science fiction setting.
Bundled in Set
Description
Daemon X Machina presents a world devastated by a cataclysm where artificial intelligence has turned hostile, leading mercenary pilots known as Outers to fight in giant mechs called Arsenals. The story follows the player’s mercenary through missions against rogue machines and rival factions, with themes of survival and technological conflict expressed through the story and visual design.
The gameplay focuses on piloting Arsenals, which can be customised with weapons, armour, and abilities. Combat emphasises aerial manoeuvres, ranged fire, and melee attacks, with missions ranging from large‑scale battles to defensive operations. Players can collect parts from defeated enemies to expand their options, and cooperative multiplayer allows teams to tackle missions together. The game is closely linked to titles such as Armored Core, with which it shares design lineage, and is often compared with other mech action games for its emphasis on speed and customisation. The producer Kenichiro Tsukuda, had previously worked on the Armored Core series and the team included designers and artists experienced in mech design, such as Shoji Kawamori, known for his work on Macross. The project was conceived as a new mech title for Nintendo Switch, intended to showcase the console’s capabilities while appealing to fans of the genre. Following its release in 2019, the game was later ported to PC in 2020, with enhancements such as improved frame rates and expanded graphical options.
Daemon X Machina was praised for its visual style, customisation depth, and sense of scale. Some criticism was directed at repetitive mission design and uneven pacing. It runs satisfactorily on the Switch but the later PC release unsurprisingly releases its full potential. Retrospectively, it is remembered as a distinctive mech title on the Switch, noted for its fast combat and extensive Arsenal customisation. It remains valued for bringing a console‑exclusive mech experience to a platform where such games are rare.
