Nintendo Book 2002 Autumn
ニンテンドーブック2002・秋A promotional catalogue distributed free in Japan in 2002, showcasing GameCube and Game Boy Advance titles for the season.
Description
The Nintendo Book 2002 Autumn is a 80 page promotional product guide supplied at Japanese retail outlets. Provides descriptions and screenshots of a large range of games on both systems, previews, interviews, hardware and accessory listings with release dates and launch prices, and TV commercial broadcast times. This issue was also notable for bundling a DVD-Video disc with a range of video content related to upcoming and current titles.
The Nintendo Book series functioned as seasonal catalogues, with editions for summer, autumn, and winter. They highlighted upcoming and newly released titles for the GameCube and Game Boy Advance, including promotional artwork, screenshots, and product descriptions. The booklet was produced in Japanese and featured glossy pages with marketing layouts similar to retail flyers. Today these catalogues provide a snapshot of Nintendo’s marketing strategy during the early 2000s. The Autumn 2002 edition is particularly notable for covering the GameCube’s second year on the market, with titles such as Super Mario Sunshine, Animal’s Forest, and Metroid Prime being promoted. For the Game Boy Advance, it included coverage of popular releases like Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire and The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past & Four Swords.
In retrospect, these make a valuable historical resource with highly detailed listing information within a promotional context.
