Downtown Nekketsu Kōshinkyoku: Dokodemo Daiundōkai is a portable adaptation of Downtown Nekketsu Kōshinkyoku: Soreyuke Daiundōkai, the Famicom “anything-goes sports day” game where teams race, fight, interfere, and score points across violent school-competition events. The game has Reihō Academy organising an athletic meet under the guise of reconciliation, but the event is really a scheme by Tōdō to crush rival schools. Kunio’s Nekketsu High, Riki’s Hanazono High, Gouda’s interschool union, and Reihō Academy all join the competition, creating the usual Kunio-kun mix of school rivalry, slapstick violence, and competitive sports parody.

Gameplay is built around five compact, violent athletic-meet events: Cross Country, Fighting Bread-Eating, Obstacle Rooms, Bomb Tag, and Knockout Fighting. Players choose a school team and compete for points across the event program, with attacks, knockdowns, weapons, item use, and interference forming a core part of the Game Boy installment’s sports-brawler structure. The title’s biggest selling point is still multiplayer chaos, supporting up to 4 players with the appropriate Game Boy link setup.

Compared with the Famicom game, this portable reinterpretation is not a perfect replacement. It preserves the appeal of fast, dirty, competitive Kunio-kun sports combat, but the smaller screen and changed event lineup make it feel different from the original.
