A digital board game based on Hudson Soft's long running train travel and property purchasing series.
Description
Super Momotarō Dentetsu II is the handheld sequel to original train-themed competitive board game. It keeps the same core goal: players travel around Japan, buy properties, earn income at yearly settlements, race to destination stations, and compete to finish with the highest total assets.
This sequel further refined the formula that the previous portable Super Momotarō Dentetsu had established. It adds or standardises several features that became familiar in later Momotetsu entries, including the “Ikeru kana?” route-check command, visible station-name plates for property stations, expanded events, more cards, and the ability to invest further in owned properties through additional investment.
The biggest new feature is the debut of King Bomby / King Bonbi, a transformation of Binbōgami that can devastate the player it attaches to. Mini Bonbi also appears, making Binbōgami more unpredictable and giving the game more comeback potential and chaos than the first Super Momotarō Dentetsu. The map and travel options are expanded as well. Airport spaces are introduced, allowing players to travel by air in a similar way to ferries, and this addition brings in overseas destinations such as Hawaii. The famous high-value property Momotarō Land also returns after being absent from the previous Super Momotarō Dentetsu. One notable change is multiplayer handling. It still supports up to 4 players, but removed the multiple console link in lieu of pass-and-play on a single Game Boy.
In short, this is a stronger and more feature-rich portable Momotetsu than the first Game Boy entry: still a dice-and-property board game, but now with King Bomby, airports, Hawaii, route checking, property investment, more events, and a more polished version of the series’ long-running competitive formula.
