Tottoko Hamtarō 2: Hamuchanzu Daishūgō Dechu

Description

Tottoko Hamtarō 2: Hamuchanzu Daishūgō dechu moves away from its predecessor, which was closer to a friendship/profile tool, to a proper adventure game where the player controls Hamtaro, explores stages, learns “Ham-Chat” words, and gathers the Ham-Hams back together. The main objective is to find the scattered Ham-Hams across the game’s areas and bring them back, while a secondary completion goal is collecting the full set of 86 Ham-Chat words.

The adventure is built around using Ham-Chat as context-sensitive action commands. Basic words such as greeting, tackling, digging, and sniffing can be used broadly, while many other learned words become useful in specific situations, conversations, puzzles, or object interactions. This makes the game less about combat and more about exploration, observation, and trying the right Ham-Chat action in the right place. The main areas include the underground clubhouse, Acorn Shrine, Sunflower Park, Sunflower Elementary School, the Ruins, the Sky Garden, and Sunflower Supermarket, with each area containing Ham-Hams, local characters, items, small puzzles, and optional interactions. Although the game is aimed at younger players, the puzzle chains and minigame requirements can be surprisingly difficult, especially for a completionist.

Beyond the core game, it includes several collection and customisation systems. Players can collect sunflower seeds, stones, acorns, melodies, costumes, and post-game stars; the game also includes a dress-up/photo feature and a Ham-Chat Dance mode where players create dance routines using Ham-Chat animations and unlocked music.
