GameCube Fast Ethernet (100 Mbit) adaptor for both online games and LAN multiplayer.

Description

This came out a month after the Modem Adaptor (DOL-012), which was launched along side, and optionally bundled with, Phantasy Star Online Ep 1&2. I was quick to switch over to avoid having to deal with dial-up Internet just for the GameCube.

Slots into one of the three bottom expansion bays and could be used, sandwiched, with a Game Boy Player. Also fit the Panasonic Q. Supported up to 100 Mbit. I recall at the time transitioning to gigabit over LAN but broadband available at the time capped out around 100 Mbit.

Besides supporting a handful of online titles it also enabled multiplier over LAN on a select few titles. The first was Kirby’s Airride, although probably more memorable was Mario Kart Double Dash.
