Description

The original 2017 Nintendo Switch is a hybrid console powered by a custom Nvidia Tegra X1 system-on-chip, featuring:

• A quad-core ARM Cortex-A57 CPU
• Maxwell-based GPU
• 4 GB of LPDDR4 RAM
• 32 GB of internal eMMC storage
• Storage expandable via microSD up to 2 TB
• A 6.2‑inch capacitive multi-touch LCD at 1280×720 resolution
• Connectivity includes Wi‑Fi 5 (802.11 a/b/g/n/ac)
• Bluetooth 4.1 although initially did not support Bluetooth audio
• USB‑C for charging or docking
• Stereo speakers and a 3.5 mm headphone jack

In handheld mode, it is built to target game rendering up to 720p, while docked it outputs up to 1080p via HDMI.

Its 4,310 mAh lithium‑ion battery (part HAC-003) offers roughly 2.5–6.5 hours of play depending on the game.

The launch firmware was stable and perfectly adequate but lacked many features most users took for granted as the system became more popular in later years particularly during the pandemic.
