Pokkén Tournament DX Pro Pad

Description

The Pokkén Tournament DX Pro Pad is a wired controller released for use with Pokkén Tournament DX on Nintendo Switch. It is also backwards compatible with the Wii U Pokkén Tournament. It is designed to replicate the arcade layout of the original Pokkén Tournament, providing a simplified button arrangement optimised for fighting mechanics. The pad removes the dual analogue sticks found on standard Switch controllers, instead offering a single D‑pad and large face buttons to streamline execution of moves.

Functionally the Pro Pad supports all in‑game actions, including attacks, blocks, and special moves, but it does not include features such as motion controls, rumble, or wireless connectivity. Its design is identical to the Wii U version of the Pro Pad, which was released alongside the original Pokkén Tournament. The only difference is the branding, they are both USB based gamepads. The accessory is often compared with standard Switch controllers such as the Pro Controller, with players noting that the Pro Pad provides a more authentic arcade feel but is limited outside of Pokkén Tournament DX. Notably the Wii U entry still insists on you using the GamePad, hence the accessory was designed to be complementary to the default setup.

The controller was praised by competitive players for its responsiveness and comfort, though it has a lack of broader compatibility and missing features. Retrospectively a specialised accessory tied closely to one game, particularly for supporting competitive play and replicating the arcade experience.
