A Japan-exclusive version of Tetris for the Virtual Boy, featuring classic block-dropping gameplay with both standard and 3D tunnel modes.
Description
V‑Tetris at its core is the classic Tetris rotating and placing falling tetrominoes to clear horizontal lines, but it was adapted to make use of the Virtual Boy’s stereoscopic 3D. The most distinctive addition is Type‑C mode, nicknamed “Loop Tetris”, where the playfield wraps around like a cylinder and you can scroll it left or right with the L and R buttons, creating new spatial strategies.
Alongside Type‑C, the game offers Type‑A (endless score‑chasing) and Type‑B (clear a set number of lines to advance) modes, both familiar from earlier Tetris versions. It was originally planned as a Virtual Boy launch title and even intended to support the unreleased Link Cable for multiplayer, but the console’s short lifespan meant it remained single‑player only. While visually simple with minimal 3D effect, it is one of the more unusual takes on Tetris.
