AC Adapter
ACアダプタThe official external power supply for Nintendo’s Wii console, a grey rectangular adapter that sat between the wall socket and the console.
Description
The Wii AC Adapter is the official power supply designed specifically for the original Nintendo Wii console. It converts standard household AC power (100-240V, 50/60Hz) into 12V DC with a current output of 3.7A to safely power the console. The adapter features a generous cable length around 2.2 meters (7 feet) with strain relief plugs to ensure durability and prevent damage from bending or pulling.
This power supply is compatible worldwide across different regions (including NTSC and PAL) and includes region-specific plugs such as the Australian plug, meaning despite the device’s label, the same unit could be used in different regions with only the plug shape varying. This, the output voltage, and rated amperage made it quite similar electrically to the GameCube power supply, albeit mechanically incompatible. Both supplies are today quite easily replaced with a USB-C cable with a compatible USB PD charger.
