VS-Cable

Generic serial link cable, enabling competitive play between two different Dreamcasts.

Description

A generic serial link cable, enabling direct connection between two Dreamcast systems. Similar to the same setup on the Sega Saturn. It was only supported in a handful of games including Ferrari F355 Challenge, Sega Tetris, and Virtual On.

To my knowledge, the Dragoncast cable was the only third party alternative to the Sega Taisen cable. Not surprising given it is a relatively obscure accessory. These really enabled the full arcade experience that Sega was so deeply rooted in. Although at the time have two consoles seemed a bit excessive, we certainly enjoyed the feature. It was just unfortunate the wealth of top-tier arcade titles on Dreamcast did not enable multi-player over multiple systems and displays.
