Heavy Nova
ヘビーノバOne of two Japanese Mega CD launch titles, the other being Sol-Feace. Heavy Nova is a hybrid action game that combines side-scrolling platforming with one-on-one mecha combat. Players control a Heavy D.O.L.L. (Detachable Organic Lightweight Limitless) mech unit through missions that alternate between navigating enemy-filled stages and engaging in slow-paced, strategic battles against other mechs. The Mega CD version features added voice acting and enhanced audio over its cartridge counterparts, but gameplay is often criticised for stiff controls and sluggish combat. Despite its ambitious concept and unique blend of genres, Heavy Nova struggled to live up to its potential. The sequel Black Hole Assault was later release on the Mega CD.
