AC Adaptor
An official power supply for the Sega Master System II consoles in Australia.
Bundled in Set
Description
The AC Adaptor is part of Sega’s series of power supplies. There are many of these and it is quickly confusing to keep track of. These were designed to provide stable current for the Master System II and might be compatible with certain early Genesis/Mega Drive units. Like the 3025‑03 variant, this has an Australian plug. Like other Sega power supplies it converts 240V AC mains power to a 9V DC output.
I have a box of various Australian Sega AC Adapters, not properly catalogued. What is notable about this power supply specifically however is instead of being rated for 1A output for 9W, it rated for 0.5A (4.5W) max. This was sufficient for the Master System II Power Base, however many units appear to have shipped with the more common MK-3025-03, which provides 1A output.
At some point I will go back and properly catalogue these, but will not use them. Modern aftermarket adaptors effortlessly replicate these specifications. With only 9W output required over 9V, it is extremely easy to adapt from USB QC or modern USB-C PD supplies to a DC barrel jack. Power supply technology has progressed quietly but extremely far in such a period.
