Widely regarded as the most faithful home conversion of Capcom’s arcade original, preserving its fast animation, full roster, and signature mechanics with minimal compromise. Because PAL discs were pressed for the European market we got stuck with the American name on the console.
Description
The Saturn version of Street Fighter Alpha 2 showcased the console’s strength in handling 2D fighters, delivering smooth animation, short load times, and accurate reproduction of the CPS‑II arcade experience. All 18 characters and systems, including Custom Combos, Alpha Counters, and air‑blocking, were intact, and the Japanese release even supported the 4MB RAM expansion cartridge to further reduce animation cuts. Compared to the PlayStation port, the Saturn edition was praised for its technical fidelity and responsiveness, making it the preferred choice for competitive players of the era. Its combination of arcade accuracy, stylish presentation, and extras like an arranged soundtrack cemented it as one of the Saturn’s defining fighting games.
