Description
ops2m demo 32 was distributed with the Official PlayStation 2 Magazine (UK/EU), showcasing a mix of stealth, action, racing, and licensed tie‑ins. It reflects the breadth of early‑2000s PS2 publishing, from Japanese mech combat to Western stealth thrillers. Similar to the PS1, there was a numbering difference between different territories. This Australian copy was included with local issue 14 / May 2003, but is otherwise the same disc as the UK and Europe.
The disc contained the following playable demos:
- Tenchu: Wrath of Heaven – A stealth‑action game set in feudal Japan, where players control ninjas navigating rooftops and compounds using silent takedowns, grappling hooks, and traditional weapons.
- Hexx – A chaotic, arcade‑style third‑person brawler in a dark fantasy setting, emphasising fast melee combat and stylised visuals.
- Dakar 2: The World’s Ultimate Rally – A simulation of the Paris‑Dakar rally, featuring off‑road racing across desert terrain, dynamic weather, and vehicle management.
- Mobile Suit Gundam: Federation vs. Zeon – Large‑scale mech warfare drawn from the anime, with battles on land and in space using a roster of iconic Mobile Suits.
- The Scorpion King: Rise of the Akkadian – A movie tie‑in beat ’em up combining basic combat with mythological settings and light puzzle‑solving in ancient ruins.
- Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell – A tactical stealth game built around shadow‑based infiltration, gadgets, and realistic covert operations.
- Ape Escape 2 – A whimsical platformer where players use inventive gadgets to chase and capture mischievous monkeys across vibrant, cartoonish worlds.
- Silent Hill 2 (timed demo) – A psychological horror experience steeped in fog and symbolism, following James Sunderland’s haunting journey through a decaying town filled with nightmarish creatures.
- Spy Hunter – A reimagining of the arcade classic, featuring high‑speed vehicular combat, transforming cars, and a high‑tech espionage narrative.
- Zone of the Enders – A fast‑paced mech action game with smooth aerial combat, anime‑inspired storytelling, and a sleek futuristic aesthetic set in Jupiter’s orbit.
The disc also included promotional videos for upcoming releases such as Broken Sword: The Sleeping Dragon, Def Jam Vendetta, Devil May Cry 2, Shinobi, GT Concept: 2002 Tokyo–Geneva, World Championship Snooker 2003, and War of the Monsters.
