Hidden Agenda
A PlayLink crime thriller by Supermassive Games where players investigate the Trapper serial killer case, making branching choices and sometimes working against each other through secret objectives.
Description
Hidden Agenda is a narrative‑driven crime thriller developed by Supermassive Games (creators of Until Dawn). The game follows Detective Becky Marney and District Attorney Felicity Graves as they investigate the case of a serial killer known as The Trapper. The story unfolds through branching dialogue choices, quick‑time events, and evidence‑gathering sequences. Player decisions determine character survival, relationships, and the ultimate resolution of the case.
A key feature of Hidden Agenda is its PlayLink integration: up to six players can connect via smartphones or tablets to vote on decisions, influence investigations, and steer the narrative. In Competitive Mode, one player is secretly assigned a “hidden agenda”, a private objective that may conflict with the group’s goals, introducing deception and mistrust into the cooperative experience.
The game is presented in a cinematic style, blending live‑action‑inspired cutscenes with interactive sequences. Its tone is deliberately tense and psychological, with themes of justice, corruption, and moral ambiguity.
Retrospectively, Hidden Agenda was an experimental title that showcased Sony’s short‑lived PlayLink initiative, blending party‑game mechanics with a dark, cinematic thriller. The branching narrative and the social dynamics were well developed but this and other PlayLink titles were let down by the overall gameplay.
