StarBlood Arena
A futuristic, arena‑based flight combat shooter built exclusively for PlayStation VR.
Description
StarBlood Arena Designed for full 360‑degree movement, it puts players in customisable battle pods and drops them into enclosed, zero‑gravity arenas where they can fly in any direction, weaving through tunnels and open spaces while engaging in fast‑paced dogfights. The game supports 2–8 players in competitive online multiplayer, as well as co‑op modes against AI enemies. Each pilot has a unique ship with its own weapons, abilities, and playstyle, encouraging mastery and variety. Modes range from free‑for‑all death matches to team battles and objective‑based missions, with progression tied to unlocking new gear, paint jobs, and upgrades.
Visually, it leans into a colourful, sci‑fi comic‑book aesthetic, and its “No Gravity, No Mercy” tagline reflects the frenetic, three‑dimensional combat that can only really be achieved in VR. While praised for its style, personality, and tight controls, it required a healthy online player base to shine, which dwindled over time, leading to its servers being shut down in 2019. Today, it’s remembered as one of PSVR’s more ambitious early multiplayer titles, blending the intensity of a competitive shooter with the immersion of cockpit‑based virtual reality.
