Titanfall 2

A first‑person shooter built around fluid movement, mech combat, and a cinematic single‑player campaign.

Description

Titanfall 2 expanded on the initial parkour-mecha-FPS formula, as the sequel to Titanfall. Unlike its predecessor, which focused solely on multiplayer, this entry introduced a full single‑player story mode alongside expanded online play. The campaign follows rifleman Jack Cooper, unexpectedly bonded with a Titan named BT‑7274, as they fight against the Interstellar Manufacturing Corporation. The story blends large‑scale battles with quieter moments of companionship, and it is remembered for inventive mission design, particularly levels that use time‑shifting mechanics and dynamic environments.

The gameplay emphasises speed and agility. Players can wall‑run, double‑jump, and chain movements seamlessly, creating a parkour‑like rhythm. Titans, the massive combat mechs,  provide a contrasting style of play, with heavy weaponry and tactical abilities. Multiplayer builds on this duality, offering modes where pilots and Titans interact dynamically, with progression systems and varied Titan classes.

At release the game was widely praised for introducing the campaign along with its creativity and emotional resonance, as well as the refined multiplayer balance. Unfortunately, the game struggled commercially due to launching between Battlefield 1 and Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare. It has retrospectively gained recognition as one of the standout shooters of its generation, celebrated for its inventive design, fluid mechanics, and the way it elevated the series beyond its multiplayer roots.
