Nintendo designed auto RF Switch from late NES/early SNES period.
Description
An automatic RF switch. Prior to the mid-90s, systems included an integrated RF modulator which could be connected to a TV antenna input. Although one could connect directly, generally a RF switch went in-between, allowing switching between the TV antenna and console signals. Early switches were manual and physical, while later switches only switched when a signal was detected. This arrangement was supported into the very early 2000s by some platforms although required an external RF modulator.
This model is similar to the earlier NES‑003 (AUS) but used in later AU sets and widely in Europe. Also very briefly included with launch Super Nintendo units – functionality all the same, so likely due to excess existing parts at the time. Later replaced with the SNSP-003, which was even later rebranded for the N64.
