A quiz/game-show adaptation based on the Japanese TV programme America Ōdan Ultra Quiz, where the player works through qualifying rounds and American checkpoint challenges on the way to a final showdown in New York.
Description
America Ōdan Ultra Quiz Part 2 is the second entry in the series that follows the show’s “cross America by surviving quizzes” format, but simplifies it into a handheld structure built around true or false questions, three-choice questions, and short event-style minigames. Early stages include a dome-style true/false qualifier, a rock-paper-scissors event at Narita, and an in-flight quiz before reaching the American stages.
Once the player reaches the United States, different cities act as themed checkpoints. These include events such as a mud-dive quiz in Guam, Russian-roulette-style quiz in Hollywood, river-rafting in Colorado, fishing in Seattle, block-break quiz in New Orleans, American football in Dallas, a tomato-throwing challenge in Atlanta, a number-memory event in Washington, and a button-mashing “loud voice” quiz in Memphis.
Compared with the first Game Boy game, Part 2 is less focused on strict TV-show simulation resulting in a cleaner game structure. There are no loser revival rounds or punishment-game sequences; progress mostly comes from clearing each checkpoint’s quota, and password continues make the game more manageable than a one-sitting quiz marathon. The result is a playable quiz game with a strong variety-show flavour. The main loss is the four player link mode of the first entry, with this title supporting only up to two players over a link cable.
