An action-adventure based on the film Doraemon: Nobita and the Animal Planet, sending Doraemon and friends to Animal Planet to rescue its inhabitants and recover lost secret gadgets.
Description
Doraemon 2: Animal Wakusei Densetsu is the second Game Boy Doraemon title. Unlike a straight platformer, the game mixes top-down exploration with side-scrolling action stages. The player walks around towns, forests, rivers, ports, and other areas of Animal Planet, talks to characters, finds stage entrances, and clears action sections to recover friends or gadgets. As a movie adaptation, it follows the general setting of Animal Planet but changes parts of the story for the game, including added enemies and altered later developments.
The main feature is the use of Doraemon’s secret gadgets as progression tools. Items such as the Take-copter, Era Tube, Air Cannon, Shock Gun, and other gadgets either open new areas, help with movement, or act as weapons. Some bosses also require specific gadgets or weapons to defeat, giving the game a light adventure structure rather than just a sequence of levels. The stages have wide in variety, including normal land areas, underwater sections, aerial sections, and bonus stages. The difficulty is unforgiving: taking a hit or falling usually means a miss, and stages restart from the beginning rather than from checkpoints.
