Tamagotchi no Appare! Niji-Venture
たまごっちのアッパレ!にじべんちゃーA 2007 Japan‑exclusive RPG in which players guide Mametchi, Memetchi, and Kuchipatchi across Tamagotchi Planet to restore a lost rainbow by collecting seven “Rainbow Shards.”
Description
Tamagotchi no Appare! Niji-Venture adopts a light RPG/adventure structure unlike the Tamagotchi Connection: Corner Shop titles, which were primarily mini‑game‑driven shop sims. Players choose one of the three main characters as party leader, which determines the starting hometown, but will control all three as they travel together. The quest spans seven themed locations (Tamagotchi Town, Mame City, Guruguru Town, Patchi Forest, Flower Hills, Gozaru Village, and Berry Town), each with NPC Tamagotchis to meet, buildings to enter, and a hidden Rainbow Shard to find.
Progression is built around exploration and conversation: talking to locals reveals clues, while some characters request help in the form of touch‑screen or microphone‑based mini‑games. Clearing these tasks advances the story or grants access to new areas. The game features small quality‑of‑life touches compared to earlier DS Tamagotchi games, such as idle animations for characters and more uniform “voice” sounds.
Within the Tamagotchi DS lineup, Niji‑Venture stands out for leaning into a quest‑based overworld rather than a collection of standalone activities. Compared to the Corner Shop series (2005–2008), it offers a more cohesive narrative and a sense of place, but less of the fast‑paced, arcade‑style mini‑game variety. In the broader 2007 DS landscape, it sat alongside other child‑friendly RPG‑likes such as Pokémon Mystery Dungeon and Magical Starsign, but with a gentler difficulty curve, shorter play sessions, and a heavier emphasis on character charm over mechanical depth.
As a Japan‑only release aimed at younger players and Tamagotchi fans, Niji‑Venture received modest but generally positive feedback in domestic gaming magazines for its colourful presentation, accessible gameplay, and faithful use of the Tamagotchi license. It remains a niche curiosity given its departure from the series’ usual shop‑management formula
