GameCube Controller (Orange)
コントローラThe orange GameCube controller was released in Japan in 2001 alongside the matching console, with the controller seeing limited overseas circulation while the console remained Japan‑only, making it a distinctive and collectible colour variant.

Description
The orange GameCube controller is identical in design and function to the standard indigo model, it featured the same asymmetrical button layout, dual analogue sticks, hybrid analogue/digital triggers, and six‑foot cable, but moulded in a bright orange plastic with grey sticks and coloured face buttons.
In Japan, both the console and controller were available in orange as regular retail products. The console itself remained exclusive to that market, never officially sold in North America, Europe, or Australia. The controller, however, was manufactured in larger numbers and did circulate outside Japan through imports and limited accessory distribution, which has led to some confusion about its availability.
On the initial Japanese console launch I ordered a set of 4 controllers including 2x orange in their retail boxes and 2x violet including the one included with the console.
The orange controller has since become a distinctive collectible, especially among players of Super Smash Bros. Melee and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, where the GameCube controller remains the preferred input device. Later reissues of the controller for Wii U and Switch were only produced in black, leaving orange as a uniquely early‑2000s colour tied to the original GameCube era.
