Description
Donkey Kong Jungle Beat is a unique platforming game for the GameCube. What sets it apart is its use of the DK Bongos, the drum-shaped controller originally designed for the rhythm game Donkey Konga. You control Donkey Kong by tapping the drums to move and clapping to perform actions like attacking or jumping. The game focuses on acrobatic movement, chaining combos, and collecting bananas to maximise scores, offering a fast-paced and rhythm-infused twist on traditional platforming.
The game was later re-released for the Wii, which replaced the bongo controls with motion controls. How utterly boring. Obviously it was a bit niche and not a huge seller but still this sort of experimental development should be celebrated.
