D no Shokutaku
DのD no Shokutaku is a psychological horror adventure game directed by Kenji Eno. The literal translation is D’s Dining Table, although table is a metaphor for family and secrets. Known simply as “D” internationally. It is an early example of cinematic storytelling in video games.
Description
In D you play as Laura Harris, after she receives a call that her father, a respected doctor, has gone on a sudden killing spree and barricaded himself in a hospital. When Laura arrives, she is mysteriously transported to a surreal and nightmarish alternate reality filled with dark symbolism and supernatural events.
The game unfolds in full-motion video (FMV) with real-time 3D graphics and has a two-hour time limit—the entire game must be completed in one sitting, with no pausing or saving. As Laura, the player explores this twisted realm, solving puzzles and uncovering a disturbing family secret that links her fate to her father’s past.
