Description
Uragiri wa Boku no Namae o Shitteiru DX Pack (The Betrayal Knows My Name) adapts the shōjo manga into an original scenario set between established story arcs, focusing on Yuki and his companions as they confront a new series of incidents involving hostile forces. The narrative centres on bonds between characters, with particular attention to emotional ties and shifting alliances. While grounded in the source material’s setting and cast, the story introduces new events and interactions not depicted in the original work, allowing for alternate interpretations of relationships and outcomes.
A central feature allows the player to assign partners outside the original canon combinations, creating variations in interaction and events in the visual novel. In addition to the narrative sequences, limited battle scenes appear as scripted events with minimal player input, reinforcing the story rather than introducing mechanical challenge. The presentation emphases the voice acting and character performance. The game features a full voice cast throughout, with dialogue and scenes structured to function similarly to a drama recording. Character portraits and static backgrounds form the primary visual layer, with occasional animated elements used to mark key moments.
This DX Pack edition provided a premium package for fans, bundling the standard software with additional content including a situation voice CD featuring character-specific audio scenarios intended for standalone listening. This format reflects the title’s emphasis on voice performance and fan engagement, extending the experience beyond the game itself. With the industry’s gradual movement away from the visual novel format, criticism focused on limited interactivity and slow pacing. However, the game was received primarily by fans of the original series it was targetting, praised for the strength of the voice cast and character interactions.
