Description

Cyberpunk 2077 is based on Mike Pondsmith’s Cyberpunk tabletop RPG and was one of the most anticipated releases of its generation. Unfortunately at launch, it was widely criticised for severe bugs and performance issues, particularly on the ancient PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, leading Sony to temporarily remove it from the PlayStation Store. Over time, CD Projekt Red issued extensive patches and updates, gradually transforming the game into a more stable and acclaimed experience. By 2025, Cyberpunk 2077 is regarded as a comeback story, praised for its narrative depth, atmosphere, and the richness of Night City.

The core gameplay blends open‑world exploration, branching dialogue, hacking, combat, and character customisation. Players can choose different lifepaths: Nomad, Streetkid, or Corpo, which shape V’s backstory and influence interactions. The city itself is divided into districts, each with its own culture, gangs, and corporations, creating a layered sense of place.

This physical “Day 1 Edition” PC release of Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition does not include game discs and was only distributed in select European (and Australian) markets around the game’s launch window. It was more of a collector’s item than a practical way to install the game, since it didn’t avoid the download requirement. It includes the following physical items:

The game has continued to evolve particularly with the major expansion Phantom Liberty in late 2023. It added a spy‑thriller storyline featuring Idris Elba as Solomon Reed. This expansion was praised for its tighter narrative and became the definitive campaign experience for many players. CD Projekt Red has teased updates around its fifth anniversary in December 2025, though the studio has clarified that no new expansion is planned. Instead, smaller patches and community events keep Night City active. Beyond the game, the franchise has expanded into other media, most notably the award‑winning anime Cyberpunk: Edgerunners (2022), which introduced new characters and deepened the lore.
