Project Gotham: World Street Racer, known as Project Gotham Racing (PGR) outside of Japan, is a racing game series developed by Bizarre Creations and published by Microsoft Game Studios. It is the first game of the series for the Xbox console, with subsequent sequels for the Xbox 360. It is the spiritual successor to Metropolis Street Racer on the Dreamcast. This was a Xbox launch title in Japan.
Description
The gameplay focuses on racing high-performance cars through urban environments. The game features real-world locations, such as New York City, London, and Tokyo, that have been recreated in detail for the game. The player can choose from a variety of cars, each with their own unique handling and performance characteristics, and compete in races against other AI-controlled cars or other players online.
PGR is known for its unique “Kudos” system, which rewards players for driving with style and skill. The Kudos system encourages players to perform tricks, such as drifting around corners or narrowly avoiding obstacles, in order to earn points. The game also features a variety of game modes, such as Time Attack, Circuit Racing, and Drift Challenge, each with its own set of rules and objectives.
PGR also features a robust online multiplayer mode, where players can race against each other in various game modes and compete for the highest scores and fastest lap times. The game includes a matchmaking system that pairs players with others of similar skill levels, ensuring a fair and competitive experience.
