Nintendo Switch 2
ニンテンドースイッチ2Nintendo Switch 2 launch system.
Description
The Nintendo Switch 2 appeared to have a delayed launch, but is worth the wait. It evolves and optimises many points on Nintendo’s true hybrid console: handheld, tabletop or docked mode. It sports a substantially better SoC, larger LCD, more internal storage, and redesigned Joy-Con 2 controllers that work attached or detached. Docked output runs at native 4K/60 Hz, while undocked it delivers up to 1080p/120 Hz. Games still come on physical cards (albeit many are now card keys) or via the Nintendo eShop. Many original Switch titles offer free or paid updates to take advantage of the upgraded CPU and GPU, and if not many Switch games now run without being held back on the Switch 2.
Prior to launch, the software updates for the original Switch brought it inline with the new system. There are a number of software features that differentiate them. Nintendo Switch Online continues as the subscription service for online multiplayer and a growing retro library; with some GameCube titles are exclusive to the Switch 2. The new GameChat feature supports voice/video calls plus screen and webcam sharing for seamless co-play.
Like usual, I didn’t really ride the hype. Only decided to purchase the day prior to launch at an acceptable $100 off. Thankfully, no real stock issues in this region.
