BioShock: The Collection
A remastered compilation of the BioShock trilogy updated for 8th generation consoles. It bundles together BioShock (2007), BioShock 2 (2010), and BioShock Infinite (2013), along with all single‑player downloadable content, presenting the series as a unified narrative arc. The regular plastic case comes in cardboard slip cover with foil stamping.
Description
BioShock: The Collection remasters were handled by Blind Squirrel Games in collaboration with 2K. The first two entries, originally built for seventh‑generation consoles, were upgraded with higher‑resolution textures, improved lighting, and modern console performance targets. BioShock Infinite, already designed for more modern hardware, was included largely unchanged except with bundled DLC. The package also added a museum‑style feature called “Director’s Commentary: Imagining BioShock,” with insights from creative director Ken Levine.
At a technical level, the remasters aimed for 1080p resolution and 60 frames per second on PS4 and Xbox One. However in reality… neither console gets close to 1080p60. Then PS4 Pro using boost mode nearly gets there, Xbox One X finally makes 60 fps. Obviously PC versions offered higher resolutions and the later Switch version paired things back. Absolutely pick the PC version in 4K.
The preserved the atmosphere and storytelling of the originals while making them accessible on more future proof system. There were no radical overhauls, even some occasional bugs and dated mechanics remained. In retrospect, BioShock: The Collection keeps alive the haunting underwater dystopia of Rapture and the sky‑bound city of Columbia, and is the definitive way to experience the series.
