From there, the protagonist must locate survivors, uncover the island’s secrets, and build a team of monsters to survive. The game features over 300 recruitable creatures drawn from across the Dragon Quest series, including both returning favourites and new additions. Battles are turn‑based, with up to three monsters active at once, and players can either issue direct commands or rely on AI tactics. A key innovation is the introduction of monster sizes: large monsters occupy two party slots, while gargantuan monsters take up an entire team bench, adding a new layer of strategy to team composition.
