Wireless Receiver
ワイヤレスレシーバーA proprietary wireless receiver to connect a WaveBird to a GameCube console. In subsequent consoles Nintendo would integrate in wireless receivers.
Bundled in Set
Description
The Wireless Receiver is part of the GameCube WaveBird controller, Nintendo’s first mainstream cordless system. It plugs directly into the console’s controller port and communicates with the WaveBird via 2.4GHz radio signals, allowing players to enjoy cable‑free play.
Physically, the receiver is a compact grey dongle that sits flush in the controller port. It features a small orange LED to indicate power and pairing status, along with a channel selector wheel on the front.
Each receiver pairs with its controller through a numbered channel dial, both the controller and receiver can be set to one of sixteen channels, ensuring multiple players can use wireless setups in the same room without interference.
Because it was only sold bundled with the WaveBird controller rather than separately, standalone receivers are relatively scarce today. Inevitably overtime there are loose Waveband controllers with the receiver lost.
The receiver marked Nintendo’s first successful step into wireless console controllers, predating the Wii Remote and Switch Joy‑Cons. Most of all was the range and quality. Genuinely was surprised upon its release. We tested a unit at increasingly large distance greater than a house, without issue.
