biohazard

バイオハザード

After the GameCube original Biohazard 0 prequel, the original game received a significant remake. Later titles were also lightly remastered. Like the prequel, a memory card was included.

Description

A masterful remake of the original 1996 PlayStation survival horror classic. The game was rebuilt from the ground up to take full advantage of the GameCube’s hardware, featuring dramatically improved visuals, hauntingly atmospheric pre-rendered backgrounds, and redesigned character models. Players once again step into the shoes of S.T.A.R.S. operatives Chris Redfield or Jill Valentine as they explore the eerie Spencer Mansion, unraveling the mystery behind the Umbrella Corporation’s bioweapons and surviving grotesque creatures lurking in the shadows.

This is more than just a graphical remastering, it introduces new areas, revised puzzles, a deeper narrative, and gameplay tweaks like defensive weapons and more dynamic enemy behaviour. Critics hailed it as one of the most terrifying and visually stunning games of its time, often referring to it as the definitive version of the original Resident Evil. Despite its critical acclaim, it didn’t meet Capcom’s sales expectations, which ultimately nudged the series toward a more action-oriented direction in later entries.
