Mega CD 2
MK-4102-50
Video Game Collection
The Sega Mega-CD is a fourth generation CD-ROM add-on for the Sega Mega Drive, developed by Sega and released in Japan in 1991. It enables CD-based games for the Mega Drive and its later 32X add-on with enhanced audio, storage, and full-motion video. Due to limited third-party support and high costs its library was comparatively small. It competed indirectly with other early CD-based add-on platforms and along with the later 32X formed part of Sega’s short-lived hardware expansion strategy.
