Dolby Pro Logic II

Dolby Pro Logic II (DPL II) is an advanced matrix-decoding technology that processes two-channel stereo into simulated 5.1 surround sound. Crucially utilised on the Nintendo GameCube, the Wii, and the PlayStation 2. DPL II relies on phase shifts embedded within the analogue RCA signal. A compatible A/V receiver decodes this matrix, effectively extracting centre and discrete rear surround channels from a standard stereo output.
