RenderWare
RenderWare is a highly influential cross-platform game middleware suite developed by Criterion Software and first released in 1993. Originally a 3D rendering technology before evolving into broader middleware, it became a major industry standard during the sixth console generation and was especially important for PlayStation 2 development. It powered notable titles such as Grand Theft Auto III and entries in the Burnout series before its third-party commercial role declined following Electronic Arts’ 2004 acquisition of Criterion.
